I love Valentine’s Day. I guess I love it even more now that
I am a mom and wife of the world’s best husband. No, my life isn’t perfect but I am pretty
blessed. So when it comes to Valentine’s
Day I need some great Valentine’s Day gift ideas. I want my family to know that
I really love them and that they are special to me.
This can be tricky. Sure, I may want terrific Valentine’s
Day gift ideas and I would love to surprise my husband with a fishing trip to
Alaska, or take our kids to Disneyland but the truth is that will probably
never be a reality. Not this month or
next. But who needs a huge, expensive
Valentine’s Day gift basket? Hmmmmm. And the problem with candy is just
that? Do we really need more candy? Flowers wither and die and besides my husband
has allergies. So after much thinking
and brainstorming I have come up with some simple, fun, Valentine’s Day gift
ideas that are inexpensive and hopefully will make this February 14th
extra special.
Plan a family scavenger hunt. This can be a blast. There are love signs and messages all over
your town. Find them and have your
family go from place to place. Maybe they
have to get a hot cross buns or a heart shaped pizza. You can also do a love digital hunt. Have
your family take photos of them hugging a local statue, kissing a goat,
snuggling a teddy bear…………the ideas are endless.
Make a RED dinner. This is fun and really easy. Red Jello, red velvet cake mix, red food die
for meat loaf and mashed potatoes, and red beets, with red punch make a fun and
easy red meal. You can cut out placemats
from red construction paper and even create settings for each person. Write a personal note or poem by each person
letting them know how loved they are and the things you appreciate about them.
So, there you go.
There are a few ideas to get your ideas spinning. It is so important to pause and truly let the
people you love, be it they may drive you crazy too, but let them know this
Valentine’s Day how much you love them, and have fun doing it.
Christmas and the holidays get crazy so why not wait and
bless your dearest friends at a more unexpected time…Valentine’s Day! It is a day to show love to those you care
about the most and friends are the people who often make the journey of life
much more pleasant and special. There
are tons of great ideas out there but here are a few our favorites for this
coming Valentine’s Day.
1. A Valentine’s Day gift basket is a great idea:
Fill it with their favorite foods. You know them best and the candy bar that is
usually off limits can be a great pick me up when you give them a basket filled
with 25 of them for fun.
For a guy put together tools he needs around the house that
are always somehow mysteriously missing.
Or fill a basket with his most favorite baked goods.
A gift basket of memories is also a fun idea. Put old photos together in an album along
with a journal entry describing some of your most favorite memories with your
friend
2. Acts of Service are easy to give and will mean a ton
Offer to watch your best friend’s kids supplying dinner and
all while she and her hubby take a much needed date night out
Mow the lawn or wash a car when no one expects it! Just show up ready to be a helper around
their home for the day.
3. Some timeless gifts that have meaning never go out of style
Gather up popcorn and an old movie and bring it to their
home with a note that they must invite you over when they choose to watch it
A gift card to go shopping may seem impersonal but is a
fantastic idea for people who are on a tight budget or feel guilty spending
time on themselves.
A robe with a box of donuts may seem funny but let your
friend know how much you admire them for all that they do and how hard they
work to balance life and that you think they deserve a day off
Gift your friend movie tickets for no specific film. This
will encourage them to book a night out with someone they need to spend time
with (maybe you) and take a pause in life
